Longstanding expertise and in-depth product knowledge allow us to create exciting new products, source the highest quality cannabis, and educate our community on how best to incorporate these plants into their lifestyle.
The Fire Behind the Smoke – Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, MidWest Operated
Established in 2019 by Joe, Ali & DJ with their business partner Josh, RiverBluff exists to make plant-infused products more accessible to the Midwest. Each person brings their own unique experiences and background that combines in a passion for the cannabis industry and advocacy.

In 2010 Ali and her husband, Ray, took a leap from what was familiar and adventured across the country from East Dubuque to Denver, Colorado. Having the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the recreational cannabis space (including voting for Amendment 64 that marked Colorado as one of the first states to legalize in 2012!), has played an important part in shaping RiverBluff into the company it is today! Being able to source the highest quality products comes naturally to her because she’s deeply familiar with what the consumer needs and wants…because she is one!

Before starting the RiverBluff business with his siblings, Ali & Joe, DJ honorably served in the United States Army. He served 4 of those years with the 2nd squadron 17th Cavalry Unit in the distinguished 101st Airborne Division, in addition to 3 12-month deployments during his career including South Korea (2001) and Iraq (2003 & 2005).

Before starting the RiverBluff business with his siblings, Ali & Joe, DJ honorably served in the United States Army. He served 4 of those years with the 2nd squadron 17th Cavalry Unit in the distinguished 101st Airborne Division, in addition to three 12-month deployments during his career including South Korea (2001) and Iraq (2003 & 2005). Following his military service, DJ returned to East Dubuque where he dedicated over 14 years to the realm of business finance. He progressed swiftly through finance roles, starting as a teller, then advancing to a business credit analyst, and ultimately assuming the position of Commercial Lender, a role he held for 7 years. DJ is now focusing on running and expanding RiverBluff operations to help as many people as possible get access to products that can enhance their lives.

Born and raised in East Dubuque, Joe has always had a keen sense for business (you could find him as a young’n selling pens and pencils out of his red toy wagon), and when he discovered CBD while working on a service call in Boulder, Colorado to repair a CBD CO2 extraction machine for an award-winning company, he knew he had stumbled upon something interesting.

After taking CBD to manage moderate pain from his physically demanding job, Joe brought his CBD knowledge and Colorado connections back home – and shortly after, RiverBluff was created! Alongside his siblings, DJ & Ali, RiverBluff is committed to widening access to cannabis while reducing stigma & providing consumer education.
