“And now, the end is near
And so we face our final curtain…”
— Frank Sinatra, My Way
If you’ve heard that RiverBluff is closing, there’s an important distinction we want to make.
Our East Dubuque store is expected to close later this year due to changes in state and federal hemp laws. Our licensed Illinois cannabis dispensary in Roselle will remain open.
We’re incredibly sad to be approaching the end of our East Dubuque chapter.
But there’s also something we want to make very clear:
Our store is still open. We’re still RiverBluff. And we’re not done yet.
We’re Closing — But We’re Not Closed
We’re not flipping a switch from business-as-usual to an empty store overnight.
Our East Dubuque team is still here, and there will still be plenty to shop. Our selection will evolve as we get closer to closing, but we’re focused on offering great products and giving our customers the best value we can for as long as we’re able to.
So don’t count East Dubuque out just yet.
Why Is Our East Dubuque Store Closing?
This isn’t a decision we made because we wanted to move on, and it isn’t because our customers stopped supporting us.
The laws are changing.
Our East Dubuque store operates as a hemp retailer. New laws at both the Illinois and federal levels dramatically change how hemp-derived THC products are defined and regulated and, ultimately, what businesses like ours will be allowed to offer.
Under the legal framework currently scheduled to take effect, our East Dubuque store will not to be able to continue operating under its current model.
There’s a lot to unpack there, and we know our customers have questions. Rather than trying to squeeze a complicated legal issue into a few paragraphs, we’ve created a separate guide explaining what changed, when the new laws take effect and why they have such a major impact on our East Dubuque store.

RiverBluff Rewards Are Winding Down
One change our regular East Dubuque customers need to start planning for now is the end of RiverBluff Rewards at this location.
September 30, 2026 is the final day to earn new loyalty points.
From October 1 through October 31, you’ll still be able to redeem the points and rewards you’ve already earned, but purchases will no longer earn additional points.
All remaining points and rewards expire after October 31, 2026.
If you’ve been saving points, please don’t let them go to waste. Check your balance, decide what reward you’re working toward and make sure you use what you’ve earned before the deadline.
Our Final Mailer Is Here, Too
We’re also sending out another round of RiverBluff mailers, and this one includes some of the biggest coupons we’ve offered.
If you received one, hang onto the physical mailer — you’ll need to bring your coupons into our East Dubuque store to redeem them.
We’ve created a separate guide with discount caps, examples, expiration dates and redemption rules so you know exactly how to get the most out of yours.

This Isn’t Goodbye Yet
There will be time for goodbyes.
Right now, we’d rather spend our time doing what we’ve been doing: helping people find products they love, answering questions, introducing customers to something new and seeing familiar faces walk through our doors.
Our East Dubuque store grew because people in this community chose to support us. You told your friends about us. You brought family members in. You trusted our staff to answer your questions. You came back week after week. Some of you have been shopping with us since the very beginning.
We don’t take any of that for granted.
We’re sad that circumstances outside of our control are bringing the East Dubuque chapter of RiverBluff to an end, but we’re also incredibly grateful for the time we still have.
Keep stopping in. Keep asking what’s new. Keep using those rewards. Bring in your mailer coupons. Come see your favorite RiverBluff faces.
We’re still here.
And until the day we have to close our doors, we’re going to keep being RiverBluff.
